What a gem in a ‘jewel’ of the Finger Lake region – Skaneateles.
Recently I co-hosted the popular Syracuse ABC TV show “Bridge Street”, and at the suggestion of host Carrie Lazarus I opted to stay at Sherwood Inn (Est. 1807), a must destination. See my Hotels and Resorts review.
A few minutes away on this residential road is an oasis. I walked in the front door into a parlor with a fireplace, lit by candlelight and there we met Alaine, who quickly invited us to sit. He would mix any cocktail we preferred.
It turns out I knew Alaine, who has worked and owned some popular New York City restaurants teamed with his long time partner Joelle who cooks up the marvelous dishes with influence from her Moroccan heritage.
Visible as you have your pre-dinner drink is a beautiful outdoor deck and garden, ideal for parties as well as al fresco dining.
The Food...a few sample menu items:
Duck Comfit with roasted pomegranate sauce, mashed potato and vegetables @ $29.95 the plate.
Roast Veal Chop with wild mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and vegetables @ $33.75 the plate.
and my favorite...
Moroccan Veal Tagine with dry fruits @ $27.75 the plate.
and/or...
The Vege Cous Cous @ $26.95 or the
Cous Cous Royal @ $32.75 replete with grilled lamb, lamb sausage, chicken, spicey meatloaf.
And check for the availability of their Special Pre-Fix, which at last visit was a bargain @ $35.75. Choose one from each with a variety of offerings in Appetizers, Entrees and Dessert choices.
This is really a treat and anyone who is driving through the gorgeous New York region must definitely make this a destination, it is that special and a Love Chef must!!
