What better a restored (1807) real tavern-inn, stagecoach inn. A bygone era is brought to you with a meticulously restored beauty replete with fireplaces, pegged wood floors, antique furniture and new memories among the old.

Dining

Great food right here either in the rustic, casual tavern a favorite of locals with healthy fare, great drinks and friendly bar to share local lore.

For formal lake view porch dining room is always dressed and in addition to some expertly prepared continental dishes, offers the same menu as the tavern.

After a great meal and special pampered memories you can walk upstairs into one of the comfy rooms with fireplace.

The Sherwood Inn is situated in the heart of the historic village of Skaneateles, New York, which is known as the “eastern gateway to the finger lakes”. The Inn is located on the north shore of Skaneateles Lake, one of the most beautiful and cleanest bodies of water in the world. Skaneateles is a community of rare charm with lovely old homes, quaint shops and galleries. The many dining establishments in the area have a reputation for superb quality and variety. Skaneateles has been a vacation spot for the former First Family of the United States as well as many other families for generations. Many return each year for vacations; local events, anniversaries and reunions at The Sherwood, their “home away from home”.

There are many things to see and do in and around Skaneateles, including a scenic boat cruise around the lake, a chamber music concert hosted by the Skaneateles Festival or a visit to the historic Creamery building to view Skaneateles artifacts. Also, rent a boat to see the lake on your own, and enjoy lakeside concerts in Shotwell Park just across from the Sherwood Inn, and polo games on summer weekends. Experience the Fall Fest, Dickens’ Christmas, WinterFest, hockey and skating at Allyn Arena, and downhill or cross country skiing at nearby trails during the Fall and Winter months. There is no shortage of activity for guests looking for adventure, and no better place to just sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery.
