I found myself in this great part of “God’s Country” to rest up before a morning TV appearance, near the University, having just driven for many hours.

I walked around and surveyed the area eateries and lucked upon the Indian restaurant Evergreen.

The menu was ambitious and featured dishes both from the North and South. Having just returned from India I was excited to recreate some of the marvelous food I had recently tasted. Boy, what a pleasant surprise that I had found this outpost; the food was authentic and fabulous.

Lamb Biryani – fragrant Basmati rice with tender morsels of lamb @ $12.95 a la carte

Shrimp Koorma – shrimp cooked in coconut and yogurt sauce (a taste that is intriguing) @ $11.95 a la carte – $14.95 THALI.

Some Appetizers:

Masala Dosa @ $6.50 was delicious. A thin crepe with vegetable stuffing served with sambar, hot and mild sauce

Cabbage Pakora – cabbage with chick pea dumpling @ $3.95 was outstanding. A good choice is the mixed platter @ $8.95 with an ample selection of Tandoori Specialties!

Chick Tikka Kabab – tender boneless chicken marinated in yogurt and spices # $12.95 a la carte – $15.95 THALI

Yes, Mango Lassi @ $2.95 is superb, and traditional Sweet Lassi @ $2.50.

Wine and beer, which goes so well with Indian food, is also available.
